On February 4th, Julie participated in the Candidate Forum hosted by the League of Women Voters of Central Kane County. The first question asked candidates to share their top priorities. Julie identified her three priorities as intertwined parts of fiscal responsibility: (1) managing and balancing the budget, (2) bringing in revenue, and (3) development and approval of a county board strategic plan by which the board can take action and be held accountable.
Remaining questions invited the members of the panel to share input on numerous issues, including:
- keeping taxes affordable while expanding community services
- the unauthorized use of county and municipal property for staging of Immigration authorities
- restrictions and regulations on data centers, housing affordability in the county
- protection of natural resources
- mental health supports
- transparency of county board activities
- ensuring productive conversation within the board.
